Waterfall Shower Head and Other Bathroom Ideas

One of the latest trends in home remodeling is upgrading your bathroom into a spa like environment. Depending on your budget, you can achieve this in many ways ranging from a full bathroom tearout or strategically remodel only certain pieces of your existing bathroom.

The reason why professional spas feel so soothing is that they’re usually very well designed and laid out. You can take advantage of this by borrowing from their ideas. This can be a great way to achieve a high spot, without having to pay for an interior designer.  Interior decorators are usually thousands of dollars for their work.  By borrowing ideas from existing ideas you can save yourself the trouble of having to reinvent the wheel.

Consider upgrading your shower head into a massaging model. For example, you can purchase the rainfall shower head which can mimic a tropical rainforest. These showerheads are designed to feel as if you are standing under a rainfall.  Most waterfall shower heads are limited to a flow of 2.5 gallons per minute.  Installing multiple shower fixtures can be a great way to recreate a more natural feeling shower environment.

You can also purchase and install water recirculation devices.  These pumps can recirculate the existing water in a closed system, similar to a Jacuzzi water jet.   This will increase the pressure greatly in your system.  If you do not have the budget for this, there are other ways you can improve your showering experience.

Natural light is a great mood enhancer.  You can purchase small tealights for under $10 from your local target or Bed Bath & Beyond.  Another low cost idea is to install a light dimmer, if you have incandescent fixtures in your bathroom.  This can increase your ambiance by creating a warm intimate environment.  There are many therapeutic benefits such as increasing your circulation and overall blood flow.  Taking showers before your bedtime can be a great way to get in the mood for a night of restful sleep.
