Various Types of Waterproof Ponchos

>

So you’re planning to be working, shopping or hiking in the rain. Well, I guess you need a waterproof poncho to stay dry. The kind of poncho you buy will depend on what you’re doing, how much you want to spend and where you’re going to use the poncho more than once.

If you’re going hiking, camping, or just adventuring outdoors in general, you will need a poncho that will stand up to tree branches and briars. This requires a tough material. A rainproof poncho is of little use if you tear a hole in it. There are waterproof ponchos made out of heavy duty vinyl which will stand up to those woodland walks and the price runs around $5. They aren’t made to wear to a beauty contest but they get the job done.

Now if you want a more stylish waterproof poncho there one sold by Magellan’s Exclusive. It’s made out of light weight breathable nylon which resists tears and stains. It’s large enough to fit over a back pack and has a hood that is large enough to protect your face from rain. The only problem I see is that it cost around $34, which is a lot for a poncho but remember it will last a lot longer than a cheaper poncho. There are some brands of waterproof ponchos that are higher than this and there are lots of lower cost ponchos as well.

If you need a poncho just to keep in your car for emergencies, I’d suggest use one of the cheaper brands. The Dollar General stores usually have a clear poncho that just keeps the rain off and they cast a dollar. You can buy several just in case. They won’t stand up to a lot of use but should keep you dry if you have a flat.

Now if you’re going to be walking in heavy traffic areas you might consider a bright color poncho to alert drivers, because darkness and rain causes the drivers to have poor visibility. Either way, keep safe, keep dry and the sun will shine again.
