Thus it is also beneficial for the organizations to invest in such types of workstation.
Tips towards Converting your Workstation into an Ergonomic one:
Ergonomic enabled work station desks are nothing extraordinary; you can put in a little effort to create this type of
desk with your existent work station desk. The following is a guideline to reach that end:
- Face your workstation desk towards the window and don’t have the window at your back. The light from the window can reflect on your computer’s screen making it difficult for you to work.
- If you already have some eye problem then ask your office authorities to provide you with a tinted glass as a cover over your computer screen. The lights should be focused over your desk and not sideways, which may produce a reflecting effect on the screen of your computer.
- Working on the PC consists of crouching with bent shoulders over the computer screen. Your sitting position should be such that you don’t have to slouch, rather your shoulders should be relaxed when you work. Your hands should not be too stretched to reach the keyboard. Adjust your chair so that it is not too far or too close to the screen. The handles of the chair where you sit should be cushioned to give rest to your hands.
- The shoulder rest of the chair should not be too cushioned or completely devoid of it. An uncomfortable chair will make it difficult for you to reach your workstation desk.
- The elevation of the desk should be in accordance to your height and not too short or too high. Otherwise reaching the desks will create a sprain in your neck and hands.
- Check that the workstation desk has enough space to accommodate your legs. Cramped legs make it difficult for you to work for a long time. Check that your work station has a separate chamber for the cables running in and out of the computer and that those cables don’t hang close to your feet. There is an obvious risk of entanglement in them.
A little change in the placement of your work station desk and the things on it can help a lot in achieving a comfortable position for you wherein you will not feel cramped in a position and work will become an enjoyable experience.
