Tactical Firing Formations with the Airsoft Machine Gun
>
There are different strategic formations that the military use in battle when in transition and when attacking/counterattacking. Since the game of Airsoft employs military tactics when played, these strategic formations are definitely a lot useful especially in the field and each position is crucial to the strategy be it an Airsoft sniper to an Airsoft recon team.
When on the move, there are different tactical formations that can be employed. These are done to ensure that all sides of the terrain are covered or surveyed by team members. The Arcs of Fire should always be observed by each personnel. An arc is determined by sweeping a terrain using half of the body in unison with a rifle to create a small arc.
This piece of the terrain will be the responsibility of the team member when enemy contact is imminent. When a target shows up within an arc, the participant responsible for that arc should let his teammates know that he will fire toward the target’s direction. The rest of the team then halts to a crouching or lying down position but will not fire towards the target and remain concentrated on their own arcs unless asked for help. The one holding a rifle with a high capacity magazine or an electric Airsoft machine gun should be the one in charge of backing up the one who’s under fire.
There are different firing formations when on a defensive. Spacing is important in these formations. Proper spacing between teammates will prevent two or more participants from getting hit by a single burst of firing from an enemy.
The diamond formation is good all around security but not ideal for fast movement. This is done by positioning each teammate on four corners that helps overcoming an ambush from both sides.
The wedge formation is done by creating a wedge-like formation but each of the teammates should not be aligned with anyone and are assigned different arcs of fire. This type of formation is not the best when it comes to full terrain visibility as all teammates are facing forward.
The single file formation is used only if the terrain prevents execution of wide formations or fast movement is required. All sides are covered by this formation including the rear.
