Six Reasons to Homeschool

There are numerous reasons to homeschool your child. I will run through 6 of the best reasons to keep your little ones at home and teach them all they need to know from the comfort of your living room, kitchen or, if you are lucky, classroom.

  1. Homeschool actually qualifies as family time. We all know that as kids get older they spend less and less time with good ole mom and dad. Many parents hardly know their children and many dads especially spend as little as 15 minutes in the presence of their kids per day.
  2. Related to the previous but no less important is that spending time with your kids should mean seeing them at their best not when they are tussled out of bed and shuffled off to the bus and after school when they are worn out and ready for bed.
  3. Avoid homework. This may not make much sense but the truth is that the homework that schools send home is a joke, it is nothing but busy work and teaches our kids very little. Homeschool allows you to do some really interesting projects that don’t seem like work
  4. Math, Science, Reading, and History are the most common subjects in school and they are broken down in just this manner but homeschool kids see things differently. They don’t draw the lines because they see how things are related and complement each other.
  5. Homeschool kids get a chance to really learn things before simply moving on to the next subject. I know I don’t remember much from high school but I sure will never forget the things that I learned doing semester long projects if college. Homeschool allows for long term in-depth real world learning.
  6. Kids all learn at different paces and at different styles. Good teachers know this and can compensate but the problem is that there just aren’t enough good teachers. Homeschool kids are allowed to learn at their own pace without being labeled a slow learner of a horizon kid.

This list could go on for ever but the truth of the matter is that if you have not considered homeschooling your children you may want to give it some thought. It is not for everyone but for the families that take the homeschool leap, most are grateful.
