Kids Birthday Party with a Karaoke Machine

>

Over the course of a few years it can be hard to find new and exciting things to do for your children’s birthday party. Kids seem to age at such a fast pace that what was fine last year would no longer be considered “cool” now. And sometimes it’s just not practical to lug around ten or so kids to the local movie theatre or arcade.

Doing something more elaborate like visiting the water slides would certainly require a lot of help from someone else. Safety is always a concern when you are in charge of other people’s children. Luckily there is an easy alternative that might provide the perfect answer for your child’s next birthday party. Karaoke is fun, unique, and perfectly capable of giving all the kids great memories for years to come. Here are some things to consider if you want to throw a children’s karaoke party.

1. Your most important purchase will be a karaoke machine and thankfully there are many good ones of the market. There are even karaoke machines designed specifically with kids in mind and they come with great CD samplers and maybe even disco light shows. A decent machine will cost under a hundred dollars, which is a good deal considering you will likely spend more if you decide to but all the kids’ tickets to see a movie.

2. Set up your karaoke machine in a good comfortable room with a TV. You’ll want to hook your machine up to the TV so that everyone can see the lyrics. This allows for everyone to participate while the main voice will be coming from the singer who will be projected on the speakers.

3. Let the kids know that there will be karaoke before the party, and tell them it is entirely optional. You don’t want kids avoiding the party because they might be scared of signing. But don’t worry, once you get the music going and a few songs under their belt, there will be no stopping them.

4. Have a good selection of current karaoke songs because no kid wants to sing music from your era. So put away the CDs you might enjoy and have your child help you to pick out music that is still relevant.

5. Have a back-up plan. You probably won’t need it, but just in case the karaoke party falls flat on its face, have an emergency plan in place. But chances are you will only need to enact it if the machine breaks down because kids tend to love karaoke and all the musical fun that goes along with it.
