Lets face it, car tires are incredibly expensive. And it is one of those things you just can not avoid no matter what you do. Sure, you can prolong the use of your tires with proper care and maintenance, but wear and tear will eventually prevail.

But that does not mean you have to fork over close to a $1,000 every six years to replace your car tires? Nope. My goal here is to show you how to save money by buying tires direct from the tire manufacturer. By cutting out the middle man, you can save significant money when you purchase new tires. You don’t have to buy cheap tires.

First, tire manufacturers are not in the business of selling their tires directly to consumers. It is too labor intensive and they specialize in making large number of tires, and not selling them. So they wholesale to tire stores that specialize in selling tires directly to the consumer.

As you can imagine, the tire manufacturers spend significant money shipping the tires to all of the tire stores. This is why tire manufacturers do not sell tires directly to consumers. It is much cheaper to send a lot of tires to a few shops, then send thousands of tires to individual homes.

But, there is a way to get a price on tires close to wholesale tires. There are tire websites that specialize in selling discount tires directly to the consumer. Most of tire websites will not send the tires to you directly; they will want to send it to a tire store for you to pick up since it will be cheaper for them. This is all convenient for you, since you can have your tires replaced for you at that shop.

I personally recently bought tires this way from a local tire chain store called Discount Tires store. I have to say I was very impressed. I was able to order the tires online and set an appointment. They were busy meaning, I had to wait about 10 minutes to get to the counter, but once checked-in, they were installing my tires almost immediately since I had made the appointment.

Within one hour of arriving at the tire store, I was driving away with my new tires. Not only that, but as it turned out they didn’t have a complete set of four tires like I had ordered. So they upgraded me to Michelin tires. I had ordered just about the cheapest tires they had and wound up getting some the best tires available. Not everyone will have such a lucky experience, but this is one example of a very positive experience in buying discount tires.

Now there are some websites that will ship directly to your home, but they will make you pay for the shipping costs. And it is incredibly expensive to ship tires, since they weight so much. Your best financial option is to have the tires shipped to your local tire store.
