Constipation is a condition that occurs when there is irregular bowel movement caused by a hardened stool. This condition can be very annoying and at times can bring pain to the abdomen. Although this is not life threatening, its treatment and prevention should be of concern. There are many natural remedies for constipation that can easily be done, without doctor’s prescription, and without danger to the user. Much of the time these simple remedies may not work and the sufferer may have to undergo a colon clense in order to overcome the problem.
The causes of constipation can be very simple things that people should avoid. These include faulty diet, insufficient water intake, lack of exercise and erroneous style of living. For diet, one must eat lots of fruits and vegetables in order to supply the body with the needed dietary fiber. Drinking a huge amount of water will not be harmful so you cannot set limit to the amount of fluid intake as long as the minimum of 8 glasses a day are followed. Natural home remedies for constipation can be through eating fruits and vegetable. This will increase the dietary fiber which is needed very much for the stool to be eliminated. Although fruits are good for constipation, there are some kinds of fruits that are better natural cures.
• Pear – For chronic constipation, have an exclusive diet of this fruit or its juice for a few days. For ordinary cases, have a fruit at breakfast or after dinner.
• Guava – Eat this fruit with seeds which will provide roughage and helps in the elimination of stool. Eat a guava or two every day.
• Grapes – Grapes have cellulose, sugar and organic acid. These are properties that make the grape a laxative. These do not only aid in bowel evacuation; also help tone down the stomach and intestines to relieve symptoms of chronic constipation. 350 grams of grapes are the recommended daily intake. In the absence of fresh grapes, raisins can be eaten as substitute. However, soak first the grapes for one day in order to swell them. They should be eaten in the morning with the water from which they were soaked.
• Bael Fruit – This is one of the best laxatives; totally cleansing and toning the intestines thus eliminating fecal matter that has built-up in the colon. Take about 60 grams of the fruit in its original form before dinner.
• Papaya – This fruit is a laxative and should be eaten at breakfast. A medium-sized papaya will relieve constipation.
• Figs – Soak 4 or 5 figs in water overnight. This fruit is a laxative and should be eater in the morning.
• Orange – One or two oranges should be eaten at bedtime and another one upon rising the following morning. The fruits will stimulate peristaltic movement that will prevent the food from being stored in the colon. Bowels will then be passed out.
• Lime – Squeeze half of the line in a glass of hot water. Add half a teaspoon of salt. Drink as constipation treatment.
Most vegetable crops are also good natural treatment for constipation. Spinach tops them since it contains the finest organic elements for the cleansing, regeneration and reconstruction of the intestinal tract. Diet is not all that is needed for the treatment of constipation. Drink lots of water and fruit juice. Do some exercises.
