Conventional Quilting Frames – A Revived Form of Art

The legacy of the quilting goes back to the golden era to realize the true worth of the conventional Quilting Frame.  The drastic change in this most precious art form includes the usage of machines that stretch the quilt for implementing the stitch patterns and styles.  It is agreed that this is really the most convenient way to design the quilt, but it seems a threat to the old time quilt frame tradition.  If you have a look at the conventional quilting frame, you will see that it is made up of soft flexible wood. Is Artificial Turf More Expensive Than Natural Grass?

The cost of artificial turf compared to natural grass when talking about the installation and maintenance of a sporting field is an interesting comparison. On the face of it, it would appear that the artificial turf is a much more expensive option owing to the fact that the initial purchase and installation price of artificial turf is about twice as much. But looks can be deceiving. Read the rest of this entry »

Rapalas: The Ultimate Pike Lure?

Catching northern pike isn’t exactly an art, and it doesn’t have to be.  One of the beautiful things about choosing to go pike fishing over another form of angling is that there are few freshwater fish that are more aggressive, more fun to fish for, and easier to get to go after your lures.  Read the rest of this entry »

This means the golfer doesn’t always have to hit the “sweet spot” to have a sweet shot.

Coleman Powerchill Cooler

Cooling food on the go was a challenge until refrigeration technology came about. Now we can fill an insulated cooler with ice and take our food with us without fear of it perishing. Your typical cooler consists of an insulated container with lid. Ice is added first, then your consumable goods like cans of soda and sandwiches. However, these coolers are not without flaws. Ice can melt and quickly become a mess. Nobody likes to get themselves and their cars soaking wet from a tipped over cooler. The next generation of portable coolers doesn’t use ice at all, but instead uses electricity from either your car or wall outlet.

Different Varieties of Steel Carports for Sale

If you need a metal car shelter you could look in the classifieds for steel carports for sale. Steel is a tough metal that will hold up through all kinds of weather. It makes a good frame for a basic shelter for your car. You can also find the car shelter available as a kit that you put together yourself. The frame doesn’t cost a lot of money to assemble yourself and you can choose from a lot of different types of roofs or awnings for the frame.

If you’re looking to save money you could choose the canvas style awnings for carports. The awning cover will provide shade from direct sunlight so the interior of your car won’t get too hot. This can be a problem if you have vinyl or leather upholstery in your car. The air inside a car can also become very stuffy when it’s left out in the hot sun with the windows rolled up.

A carport will make a nice addition to a home that doesn’t have a garage. It will give you a shady place to park your car in. Many consumers use carports to shelter their recreational vehicles. Recreational vehicle carports can be small enough to fit a single motorcycle or large enough to fit an RV or sail boat.

You can also find steel carports for sale through dealers and builders of car shelters and storage buildings. You can even have them assemble the shelter for you or design one custom made to fit your needs. The type and size of the shelter you choose depends on how much you are willing to spend on getting it.

If you want to save money you will be better off buying a kit you can assemble yourself. You can always add to the basic frame later on if you want to change the type of roof covering or need an extra storage shed built. The structures are a nice option for people to use who don’t have any other type of car shelter.

What Are Meals Ready to Eat?

MRE meals stands for Meals Ready to Eat, and are a type of prepackaged food used mostly by campers, survivalists, and servicemen. The meals were first used as soldier rations in the military during the Revolutionary War in the U.S.

Military MREs differ from the packaged meals found in many camping gear supply stores because they usually are not freeze dried, which tends to make them heavier to carry around.

Each meal typically supplies about 1,200 calories and has a shelf life of about 3 and a half years if kept within a normal temperature range between 32 degrees Fahrenheit and 81 degrees Fahrenheit. A triple layer of packaging is required for the meal to pass safety regulations.

Also, meals are date coded with the year and production date, as well as the lot number in case of Food and Drug Administration recalls. MREs can be an important part of an emergency survival plan due to their long shelf life and self-heating property, especially when the ability to cook is limited.

Over the years, prepackaged MRE meals have evolved from basic food rations with no thought to taste or variety that had to be eaten cold, to widely varying menu items that include desserts and self heating containers. MREs usually come in packs of 6 or 12. A typical meal would contain an entrée, side dish, condiments, dessert, instant drink, and a heating mechanism.

Military MREs are only accessible by the military, but anybody can purchase civilian MREs on sale from military surplus, or retailers that specialize in camping and survivalist equipment. When purchasing MREs from surplus, make sure to check the date code in order to avoid purchasing a meal that has already passed, or soon will pass, the 3 and a half year mark from the item’s date of creation.

The amount paid for the MREs will differ depending on where and from whom they are purchased. Full meals do not have to be purchased, as there are also solitary entrees, side dishes, and desserts that are available. The beef ravioli selection and the barbecued pork were picked as best tasting entrees in a consumer taste test. The pound cake was picked as one of the best tasting desserts.
