What is a Sextant?
A sextant is a nautical device used by seafarers to determine the altitude where they are currently situated through measuring the angle between a celestial body and the horizon. Its name was derived from the Latin word sextans, which means one-sixth in reference to its size which is 1/6 of a full circle. The sextant consists basically of a triangular frame, the bottom of which is a graduated arc of 60°; a telescope is attached horizontally to the plane of the frame.

What are the advantages of sextants?
It is not a wonder why many old school navigators prefer to use sextants than those modern navigational devices especially the famous global positioning system or GPS. Such navigators love sextants because they are not electrical dependent or human controlled thus they are practical to be used as back-up or emergency navigation tools. I love to collect knives.  It doesn’t matter whether they are pocket knives, folding knives, fixed blades, multi-tools, throwing knives, or combat knives, I am an avid collector of them all.  I love custom built knives.  Custom designs are usually more expensive, but with the added expense comes a knife that has the background of a master knife builder, which allows for the inclusion of a lot of extra attention to details like weight, balance, and durability.

Of all the types of knives that I collect, folding knives are my favorite.  I love that they are compact and very portable, but when deployed, are sometimes the length of fixed blade knives.  Not a day goes by that I don’t carry a folding knife in my pocket where ever I go. Caching is the act of burying items in the ground with the intent to recover them at a later date.  It’s something that is done in mass popularity all over the world, especially with the recent rise of GPS integration with the geocaching hobby.  What the average person probably doesn’t realize is the underground following that firearms caching has.  While geocaching tends to be more popular among hobbyists as an enjoyable pastime, weapons caching has a bit more function behind it.
