Since 2005 the Ben 10 cartoon series on Cartoon Network has been taking the world by storm and was then closely followed by the Ben 10 toys range. This is proof of the fact that the best ideas are usually the simplest and seem to always be there in front of one’s face, yet only detected by those creative souls who pay attention and reap the rewards.

Let’s face it, most of us dream about unzipping our skin, climbing out and becoming someone new. And not just simply new, but new and improved, someone that has some unique power or gift that really makes people stand up and pay attention. This climbing of the popularity ladder can really be tiresome!

The chance to have the gifts or powers like Ben 10 to teach a bully in the schoolyard a lesson for a change is something most of us never really grow out of. Somewhere inside us, the insecure little boy is always lurking, desiring to be looked at and feels like he is more than what he really is. What do we think our mid life crisis is all about and the writers of Ben 10 tapped in to this desire perfectly.

The plot of the whole thing is basically this. Ben Tennyson, just your regular human earth boy, stumbles upon an alien pod in some woods during a camping trip with his cousin and grandfather. In this pod Ben finds the Omnitrix, a wristband gadget that attaches itself permanently to his arm and gives him special abilities. These abilities are composed of being able to turn himself into ten different,alien life forms with attached superpowers, and only he has the power. This is a typical expression of male human insecurity.

Moving on we can be glad this is all fantasy. Imagine if your 10 year old son got hold of something like this, especially nowadays with ‘Gangsta Rap’ topping most music charts. One shudders to imagine. However, to at least have some sort of positive influence the writers of Ben 10 portray him realizing, with the help and guidance of his wise grandfather that his powers must be used for the good of human kind. Unfortunately that concept, in reality, still seems forever relegated to the realm of human fantasy.

Anyway the first part of the Ben 10 series is over and as for the related Ben 10  action figures, the word is probably been there, done that. At the tale end of the second part of the series of Ben 10, the relevant Ben 10 Alien force figures were probably on top of most Christmas lists last year.

But wait, the fun has definitely not ended. The next part of the series is soon to air and is dubbed Ben 10 Ultimate Alien. This may mean that you will have the choice of a birthday present in the form of another group of new Ben 10 Ultimate Alien toys all set up this year.

Just think about this article while you pay for some new Ben 10 figures and who knows, maybe you’ll come up with the next best idea that could take the world by storm.
